Digest

Tierrasanta 40(ish) celebrates the presence of a small but mighty suburban library rooted in community, history, and service. Centered on a milestone anniversary, the project began with a pitch to uplift the branch’s legacy through event branding that balances nostalgia and outreach. The objective was to create a sense of belonging while reinforcing the message “We are here for you.” Guided by input from library staff and inspired by prior campaigns, the approach combined neighborhood context, military ties, and architectural character with adaptable deliverables, positioning the library as both a landmark and a living civic space.

Ideation

Rather than rely on a templated event look, I explored references tied to Tierrasanta’s architecture, 1980s legacy, and library quirks like art supply toolkits. Through iterative sketching, archival research, and image pulling, I developed a visual language that felt both neighborly and distinct. The system nods to hands-on creativity through cut paper, layered forms, and tactile compositions, mirroring the act of making central to the library’s programs for children, elders, and educators alike.
